Readers react to hiring of ‘Kim Who?’

-

I expected to hear from readers about the controversial coaching hire of Tennessee athletic director Danny White. But I didn’t expect to hear from a reader yearning for a renewal of the Tennessee-Memphis rivalry.

That proves my literary contributors can react quickly and surprisingly.

Boy John, how bad have you been drinking the Danny White coolaid?

This Lady Vols coaching hire is a cheap joke. Let’s face it, with no high school recruits in the pipeline and 2 entering the portal, no legitimate coach is going to come here.

This is a four to five year rebuilding project with a legitimate coach. Not a D1 newbie. Obviously, with a $750,000 salary, no sense wasting much money.

White is the new Dave Hart destroying the LV program. They should have kept Kellie for one more year.

Shocking.

Caldwell

White obviously likes offense. Like Heupel, Caldwell runs a fast-paced, high scoring offense.

Kim Who? Obviously, White doesn’t consider Lady Vols Basketball a high priority, in my opinion. Might as well have kept Kellie, as she has more experience than Caldwell.

Hiring a coach with no experience at this level was a risk. But White has been at UT long enough to realize Lady Vols basketball matters to many people.

That tells me he’s sold on Kim

You say how bad off the program is, but then say UT should have kept Kellie Harper for another season. That makes less sense than White’s hire.

Harper is the reason the program is in decline. She can’t recruit.

Danny White has yet to show himself to be a fool.

He surprised me with his hiring decision, and I respect it.

I guess you drank more of the Kool-Aid than I did.

I am underwhelmed by the hiring of Kim Caldwell. But then, I was also underwhelmed by the hiring of Josh Heupel and he turned out to be a good hire.
