LENOIR CITY - Thomas Richard Mills - age 78 of Lenoir City, TN, passed away Sunday afternoon, May 5th, 2024.

Tom was a member of

St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Lenoir City. He was a 1964 graduate of Oak Ridge High School and earned his Marketing Degree from the University of Tennessee in 1972. Tom was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Army stationed at CINPAC in Aiea, Hawaii . He enjoyed visiting on his farm with family and friends, ballroom dancing, playing bridge, reading, farming, building soccer fields, and skeet shooting. Most of all Tom enjoyed working to build the Tennessee Sports Complex in Lenoir City for indoor soccer, after school daycare, building a deli and health club, bringing the community together. Tom’s primary focus in life was to give back as much as possible and trying to make a difference.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Margaret Mills; father-in-law and mother-inlaw, W.H. Smith II and Lavelle Smith; brothersin-law, W.H. Smith III and Mark Casey. Survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Rosalyn Smith Mills; daughter, Andrea Mills Miller (Eric); sons: Anthony Mills (Holly), Bryan Mills (Jamie), and John Mills (Dana); grandchildren: Ada Miller, Sophia and Nicholas Mills, Tanner and Mason Mills; brother, Wilson Mills (Kathy);sister, Josie Ignitzo (Bob); sister-in-law, Ann Smith. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am on Friday, May 17th at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Lenoir City. The funeral mass will follow at 11 am with Father Julian Cardona and Father Doug Owens officiating. A luncheon will be served in the Church Parish Hall. Family and friends will then gather at 3 pm at Oak Ridge Memorial Park for graveside services and full military honors conferred. In lieu of lowers, memorials may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and St Jude Children Hospital.
