McAuliffe Elementary celebrates “Winterfest 2016”
(La Semana) ENGLISH Winterfest 2016 was held last Thursday at McAuliffe Elementary school, located on the 6615 S. Garnett Rd in Broken Arrow, a tradition that this year turned five years old.
Everything started at 5:30 pm and was organized by the school parents and teachers, who offered activities for all the families, ranging from sports competitions and games to arts and crafts.
The whole school had been decorated with fake snow and all sorts of winter related images that delighted the eye and were intended to celebrate winter. Families were able to take a free picture at the event.
Emma Thadani is one of the teachers responsible for the event and told us some secrets about Winterfest.
“This is a family event that cherishes community bonds and has the purpose of improving relations with the community through fun activities that involve parents, students, their families and teachers,” Thadani explained. “It also enables us to collect money for the parents and teachers organization of the school through the sale of pizza and other kinds of food.”
The event used to finish with a movie night, but this year students presented different artistic performances. The families enjoyed the event, which for another year was a huge success.
“We hope to keep on escalating and have an even greater crowd next year,” Thadani said. (La Semana)
