TULSA, OK -- The 2018-2019 school year begins on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, and Tulsa Public Schools (TPS) is encouraging families to plan ahead for a strong start to the year.

“We’ve got an exciting year of teaching and learning in store for our kids, and we’re eager to welcome Tulsa back to school on August 22,” said Superintendent Deborah A. Gist. “We hope that students will develop good attendance habits early in the year, and we encourage parents to talk with their children about the importance of getting to school on time every day. Students can fall behind even if they miss just a day or two every few months – every minute of learning matters.”

The district is reminding families about to plan for the new school year by:

Getting your child enrolled in school. If your family is new to the district or if you've moved over the summer and have a new neighbor- hood school, make sure your child is enrolled before August 22.

Checking school bell-times to make sure you know when the day starts and ends.

Knowing your child's bus route. If your child will take the bus, visit www.tulsaschools.org/bus for pickup times and bus stop locations. High school students can participate in #TPSRides and use Tulsa Transit free of charge with student ID.

Families can complete enrollment online or in-person during regular hours at the Enrollment Center: Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Enrollment Center is located at 2819 S. New Haven Ave. in Tulsa, on the north side of the Education Service Center parking lot.
