The Golden Eagles of Siloam Springs win first ever regular season title in the Brent Benware era since joining SAC!

The D.T. Brent Benware wins first ever regular season title in the history of the JBU soccer program after defeating Southweste­rn Christian 2-0 during Senior Day at Alumni Field.

African striker Kelvin Omondi gave JBU the first goal of the afternoon after taking a ball the left wing, and entered his comfort zone to send the ball to the far post where Spanish goalkeeper Gerald Espinaly had nothing to do. Everyone knew about the importance of this match, the victory could give JBU their first ever regular season title in history since joining the Sooner Athletic Conference.

Costa Rican midfielder Oscar Carballo would come to seal the game after a combined play Carballo found himself with the ball inside the box and send the ball inside the net to put the final 2-0.

With the victory, JBU wins its first ever regualar season title in the Brent Benware era. JBU wins not only title but also secures home playing during the SAC championsh­ip and the dream to advance to the NAIA national championsh­ip.

Head coach for JBU Brent Benware said “The preparatio­n did not start overnight, starting two years ago with 18 freshaman and a combinatio­n juniors and senior players. This is a great celebratio­n and that is history for JBU but now we have to prepare for Tuesday's game. ”

Salvadoran midfielder and senior Amilcar Gonzalez said “this is very nice to be part of the group, we start working from the first day we arrived here. We had the mentality of making history and very thankful of winning first regular season title here at home and during Senior day. ”

Goalkeeper Britt Wisener and from Houston, Texas added “This is something very important, especially for all of us who played our last year, we prepared very well, and we worked very hard in the season, and I hope we made our fans and everyone back home proud today. ”

JBU returns to action next Tuesday to play the last game of the regular season. Double header at the Alumni Field. At 5:00 pm. The women's squad faces Mid-america Christian follow by the JBU Men squad at 7:00 P.M. welcoming Midamerica Christian. Both rivals from Oklahoma.
