The new version of the soap opera “Rich people cry too” it was carried out in an “archaeological” way, according to what the Venezuelan producer explains to EFE Carlos Bardasano by ensuring that he and his team were in charge of reviewing each of the versions that have been made of this story to extract the essence of the characters.

It was a process of ‘archeology’, we went a bit back to the essence of the story and these are two radio soap operas, we saw all the options to have clarity of the characters and be able to characterize the Salvatierra family, but our story is born from the radio version, says Bardasano.

The stars (and in the summer in the United States for Univision)is the third version that the Mexican company Televisa takes place of the homonymous melodrama.

In 1979 the actors Veronica Castro and Rogelio Guerra embodied the love story of Mariana and Luis Alberto, while Thalia and Fernando Colunga did the same in “María la del barrio”, released in 1995.

“We approached the project with a lot of emotion and a little fear because of the mountain that we were going to have to climb, without a doubt it is something that instills a lot of respect, since it is one of the masterpieces of television”, assures the producer.

Now the protagonists of the telenovela are claudia martinin the role of the charismatic and loving, but humble, Mariana, while Sebastian Rulli will play Luis Alberto Salvatierra, a sought-after bachelor from high society.

“I feel that Claudia’s way of being gave Mariana a lot of life, it’s hard to fill shoes like Verónica and Thalía’s, but she has a sensitivity to the surface and an angel that accompanies her”, mentions the producer.

However, to modernize the original story of Inés Rodena, Bardasano saw fit to generate new guidelines in the lives of certain characters, thus offering a new experience to the viewer.
