2023 Free Income Tax Prep Locations Now Open

-

Goodwill Tulsa facilitates the IRS’S Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program in the Tulsa region. This program uses volunteers to provide free tax services to individuals who have a household income of less than $60,000. More than half of Tulsa County residents qualify for VITA assistance.

“The VITA program gives Tulsans an opportunity to get their full tax refund without having to spend any of it on tax preparation fees,” said Janae Bradford, Director of the City of Tulsa’s Office of Financial Empowerment and Community Wealth. “The City is proud to partner with Goodwill and others in the community on this valuable service and we are grateful for the approximately 130 volunteers who are giving their time and talents to VITA this year.”

All volunteers receive extensive training and are certified annually by the IRS. VITA volunteers filed more than 3,000 returns in 2022, helping taxpayers receive more than $6 million in refunds. VITA can help taxpayers file for previous tax years going back to 2019. Ten partner organizations have offered space for VITA operations.

“We are extremely grateful for our volunteers’ willingness to use their own time to provide this valuable service, and we couldn’t provide the service without generous partners who allow VITA to use their space,” says VITA Program Manager Victoria Annesley.

From now through April 18, fourteen VITA locations across Tulsa, Bixby, and Broken Arrow will be open to serve taxpayers.
