TRUMP ARRESTED ON 34 FELONY CHARGES

-

The payments were allegedly made to Daniels through Trump’s former attorney, Michael Cohen, who appeared as a witness against Trump in the grand jury proceedings leading up to the unprecedented courtroom event.

Trump pleaded “not guilty” to 34 felony charges Tuesday afternoon, after first being booked and fingerprinted as a criminal defendant. The former president, who was defeated by Joe Biden in 2020, is accused of falsifying business records in the first degree.

As historic as the scene in the Manhattan courtroom was, it is only one of numerous legal challenges for Trump, who recently launched a bid to regain the White House in 2024. A civil trial in which Trump is accused of sexual battery and defamation is scheduled to begin later this month. Trump also faces potential legal problems in an ongoing investigation by a special prosecutor into the January 6, 2021 attempted insurrection at the United States Capitol. Other possible criminal charges may develop in the state of Georgia, related to Trump’s attempts to overturn the results of the legitimate election that he had lost.

Trump displayed none of his usual bravado in the courtroom on Tuesday, maintaining a somber appearance due perhaps to the severity of the charges against him. Prior to the unsealing of the indictment, it was speculated that the core allegations might be less serious than they were ultimately revealed to be. This was in stark contrast to the attitude displayed in a tweet Trump posted while en route from Trump Tower to turn himself in, in which he stated, “WOW, they are going to ARREST ME. Can’t believe this is happening in America.”
