HIJO MEXICANO DEL ‘LOCO’ ABREU JUGARÁ EN BRASIL MEXICAN YOUTH WILL PLAY IN SOCCER IN BRAZIL
Diego Abreu renovó con el Defensor Sporting y estará en calidad de préstamo con el Botafogo.
La Federación Mexicana de Futbol (FMF) dejó escapar a Diego Abreu. El hijo del famoso ‘loco’ nació en la capital de nuestro país hace casi 20 años y su carrera profesional va de menos a más en el futbol.
Abreu renovó con el Defensor Sporting de Uruguay hasta el 31 de diciembre de 2025 y fue cedido al Botafogo sub-20 con oportunidad de quedarse en el primer equipo brasileño.
Goleador nato
El delantero mexicano registra 115 anotaciones en las fuerzas básicas de Defensor Sporting y a sus 19 años es una de las cartas fuertes del club uruguayo a largo plazo. Con el Botafogo estará hasta finales de 2024 y tendrá la oportunidad de mostrar sus cualidades en el balompié brasileño.
Finalmente, Abreu tuvo acercamientos en divisiones inferiores de la Selección Mexicana, pero al final se decantó por defender al combinado uruguayo. Algo similar a lo que sucedió con Luka Romero, actual futbolista de la Lazio de Italia que tenía oportunidad de elegir al ‘Tri’, pero eligió a la Albiceleste.

This Friday, Diego 'loco' Abreu was signed with Botafogo. The son of 'Loco' Abreu, arrives on loan with the idea of reinforcing the U-20 team.
Abreu has good credentials, as he was a member of the Defender Sporting from Uruguay and scored more than 100 goals in lower categories.
The 20-year-old striker has represented Uruguay and Mexico – country where he was born – in lower selections. At the moment, he has not decided which flag he wants to defend in the future.
“Very happy to be able to wear the Botafogo shirt. It is a club where I can continue to grow as a player and as a person.
“I already have a story here, I followed the games when I was little and now being able to be part of this family is something incredible for me”, recalled the youngster after his father’s time at the Brazilian club between 2010 and 2012.
Diego Abreu arrives at Botafogo after signing a contract renewal with Defensor Sporting until 2025.
Earlier this year, he returned to the courts after being absent for nearly a year due to a serious ligament injury.. Precisely on his return to the fields, he scored his first goal with the Defensor Sporting first team.
