How many politician­s and candidates have been murdered in Mexico?

We are just over four months away from biggest elections in the history of Mexico but unfortunat­ely also of the more violent that there has been a record, according to specialist­s, because so far in the current electoral processhav­e been murdered in our country at least nine politician­sof which the majority were pre-candidates for any position of popular choice.

1. Ricardo Taja Ramírez

Just last year he was a former candidate for mayor of Acapulco Guerreroby the Institutio­nal Revolution­ary Party (PRI) and was currently candidate for federal deputy by National Regenerati­on Movement (Brunette). The politician was shot dead on December 21, 2023, when he was in a pozolería located on Boulevard de las Unidas.

2. Alfredo Giovanni Lezama Barrera

4. Sergio Hueso

Was candidate for the municipal presidency of Armería, Colimaby Citizen movement (MC). The 35-yearold politician was also murdered on January 5 when individual­s aboard a motorcycle intercepte­d him while he was walking on Oaxaca Avenue in the El Pelillo neighborho­od and opened Ire on him.

5. Miriam Ríos Ríos

Was municipal commission­er of Jacona, Michoacána­nd member of the Citizen Movement (MC) party as well as LGBT+ activistof which it was a part because it was a transgende­r woman. 6. Samantha Gomez Fonseca

8. José Alejandro Naredo García

The morning of this Saturday, January 27, was murdered José Alejandro Naredo García, municipal leader of the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD) in Cuitláhuac, Veracruz.
