New Whatsapp feature! Android users can now ‘Search by Date’, nd messages, media with precision

The new Whatsapp feature enables users to search for messages, photos, or videos sent on a speci c date.

Whatsapp is rolling out a new feature for Android users—a “search by date” function for personal and group chats. Already available on IOS, Mac desktop, and Whatsapp Web, it enables users to search for messages, photos, or videos sent on a specikc date.

Mark Zuckerberg, the cofounder and CEO of Facebook’s parent company Meta, shared the new feature announcement on his Whatsapp channel.

“When you realize you have got the perfect response in an old chat…” he wrote as he shared a video of him searching for an old chat about Karaoke. He credited Whatsapp’s new search-by-date feature.

It is important to note that users can only search for a chat on a particular date instead of specifying a date range. The company said in its announcement that it is ideal for revisiting a message that made you smile or double-checking when a piece of information was sent to someone. Searching by date makes the chats easier to navigate, it added.

How to use the new feature?

The users can utilise the feature on their Android phone by following these steps:

– Access a personal or group chat by tapping on the conversation.

– Tap the “Search” icon to search by date.

– A calendar icon will appear. – Tap the calendar icon and select a date to view messages sent on that specikc date.

Whatsapp also said that the users can also look for media, links, and docs within the chats.

How to search for a speci c photo?

To search for a specikc photo in a conversation, users can:

– Open any chat/conversation – Access the contact or group name on the top

– Select “media links and docs” to switch between the three options.
