The USWNT won 1-0 in the nal of the W Gold Cup and is con rmed as the great power of the continent.

The Krst edition of the W Gold Cup met its Krst champions after the United States National Team prevailed by the minimum against a challenging Brazil in a historic afternoon, since the announcement of the sold out at the Snapdragon Stadium.

In front of 30,000 people, the USWNT jumped on the court commanded by its leaders Alex Morgan and Lindsey Horan to face a Brazilian team that reached the Knal of the W Gold Cup as the most solid team in its game during the tournament.

After the interpretation of the o*cial song of the 'Vamos' competition and the ceremony of the national anthems, the long-awaited moment of the initial whistle came. The central referee, Melissa Borjas, whistled the beginning of what would be a hard 90-minute battle to meet the Krst monarchs of the tournament.

Brazil, with Debinha as a substitute, began dominating the match with dangerous arrivals to the goal of Alyssa Naeher who remained attentive and did not allow the zero in her goal to be altered despite the attacks of Sampaio and Gabi Nunes. La'canarinha' was insistent during the Krst half hour of the game with shots from outside the area and taking advantage of the fouls that the USWNT committed in the face of desperation, but his insistence was not re#ected in the scoreboard.

Lindsey Horan, the heroine of the USWNT

Despite the fact that the United States did not have possession of the ball and fell into desperation committing fouls, the historic Lindsey Horan would make her appearance before the break to get a great header, sending the ball to the bottom of the goal defended by Luciana, and converting the only goal of the match that would mean the United States title.

Twila Kilgore's squad conkrmed that despite the doubts generated by the restructuring of the team and the generational change it faces, it continues to be the great power of women's soccer on the continent.

With this result, the history of confrontations between both teams amounts to 40 games in which the USWNT boasts a wide dominance with 32 wins, 5 draws and three losses.

The culmination of this Krst edition of the W Gold Cup not only celebrates the growth of women's football in the confederation, it also conkrms that the level of competition has risen with respect to the rival South American powers.
