Jaime Lozano accepts the 'failure':

"They were better in everything".

- BY EDUARDO LÓPEZ

The coach of the 'Tri' resigned after the defeat against the United States and offered a couple of solutions to improve the competitiveness of Mexican football.

On a new dark night for Mexican soccer, Jaime Lozano didn't get the excuses. There wasn't a single one. The United States won, and won well. The Mexican National Team once again lost the Concacaf Nations League and further extended the crisis that has been experiencing, perhaps, since 2021.

For Jaime Lozano, coach of the 'Tri' since June 2023, the diagnosis is summarized in that the United States, the greatest rival, was simply better on the court of the AT&T Stadium. "It must be recognized that they were better. They played a great game, they took advantage of their chances. We generate little and nothing. They were a little better in everything, in quality, in how they pressured us, in goal options. They were fair winners. From these experiences you have to learn as much as possible," he accepted at a post-party press conference. "Faiure, yes, whenever something is not achieved. You have to learn. Now, we have to be on the other side. A few months ago we were raising a cup (the Gold Cup, by defeating Panama in the Tnal). Today was not the day of our National Team," added 'Jimmy'.

"They put pressure on us well and we couldn't Tnd solutions to go out playing. Physically, they were much better in the Trst half. In the second, with the adjustments and despair, with long balls and two points, what we managed to get closer; we didn't generate such a clear one. It seems to me that they, with the result in favor, protected the advantage," Lozano analyzed how the Tfth defeat took place in the last six o6cial matches against the United States. "I'm upset and thoughtful," confessed the former selected, who later re3ected on his future in o6ce: "We expect immediate things, there is a lot of frustration for not showing another face (...) what I want to leave, the time I have to be here, are strong foundations and that there is a better work culture than I found."

Players in Europe, the difference

For Lozano, the palpable difference on the court between a priori teams so couples lies in one factor: the export of soccer players. The United States planted a full European starting eleven; Mexico, with seven initials in the most important leagues in the world, and not all with regular activity. The United States is, at the end of the day, not only the maximum rival: it is also the mirror to look at. "(This changed) at the time they decided to send players to European clubs. It's what makes the difference. The day to day is different. The competition every weekend. That's what we have to aim for. Seek the internationalization of players at an early age and compete at the level at which they are doing it," explained the coach of the 'Tri'. "The key is training: better trainers, investing more money below (in quarries) and exporting. I see there a solution, I don't know if immediate, but viable, that can give us to increase competition in this type of confrontation."
