Senior scores six 3-pointers in Lower Lake victory

Senior scores six of team's dozen 3-pointers, adds slam dunk in league win over St. Helena

LOWER LAKE » Coming off a dramatic last-second win Friday over the Kelseyvill­e Knights, the Lower Lake Trojans notched their second North Central League I win in a row with a 63-49 victory over the St. Helena Saints on Tuesday night in Lower Lake.

“These two wins are pretty big for us,” Lower Lake head coach Marcus Humphrey said. “We’re celebratin­g we know we have Middletown coming up and that’s not going to be easy.”

Lower Lake (2-4 league, 4-8 overall) received a big effort from Semaj Clark, who had six 3-pointers and a slam dunk among his team-leading 22 points. Vann Wilkins added 18 more, including three 3-pointers.

The Trojans were red-hot from behind the arc, sinking 12 treys in all.

“That’s a very good night,” Humphrey said. “We shot a very good 3-point percentage, around 50 percent.”

Lower Lake outscored St. Helena 19-14 in the second quarter top open up a 36-31 halftime lead, then pulled away with a 17-7 third quarter.

“We’re working through a new offense that we we started working on yesterday (Monday),” Humphrey said.

Lorenzo Zuniga added nine points in the win and Frankie Alviso had eight.

“It’s a great for morale,” Humphrey said of the Trojans’ two-game win streak. “I’m proud of everything they’re giving me.”

Lower Lake won the junior varsity game 65-45.
