Tourney could pay out $1,000 for first place

Clearlake Oaks to host crappie tourney Feb. 22

LAKE COUNTY » The Clear Lake Crappie Association is holding a tournament Feb. 22 at the Clearlake Oaks boat ramp.

Teams begin blasting off at 8 a.m. and the weigh in is at 3 p.m.

Fishermen can sign up at Limit Out Bait and Tackle in Clearlake Oaks or at Lakeport Bait and Tackle in Lakeport. The team entry fee is $60 and the payback is 100 percent of entry fees. Their is a $10 big-fish option and a $5 insurance and tournament permit fee.

Based on a 50-boat field, the payouts are $1,000 for first place, $500 for second, $300 for third, $250 for fourth, $200 for fifth through eighth places, and $100 for ninth and 10th places.

There is a 10-fish limit per team and fish must have a minimum length of 12 inches. No dead fish will be weighed in and all fish caught during the tournament will be released back into the lake.

Fishing guides are not allowed to enter the tournament.
