Lower Lake, Middletown post exciting road victories
LAKE eOUNTY >> Both offenses went up and down in the field in a memorable North Central League I varsity football shootout held nearly a year ago today as the Lower Lake Trojans outlasted the Kelseyville Knights 66- 43 at Kelseyville High
School.
With the start of the 2020-21 season delayed until mid-December because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lake County RecordBee is taking a look back at the players and the teams who were making headlines during the 2019-20 season.
Football
The victory in league play was the fourth straight for the Trojans, who improved to 4-1 in the NCL I standings and 6-2 overall. Kelseyville stayed close to Lower Lake most of the way and trailed only 42-36 late in the third quarter, but the Knights’ defense simply didn’t have an answer for Lower Lake quarterback Vann Wilkins, who passed for 423 yards and six touchdowns. Wide receiver Semaj Clark had nine catches for 186 yards and three TDs while fellow wide receiver Gavin Watson accounted for three other scores, two receiving and another on a 67-yard kickoff return.
The Knights did most of their damage on the ground, led by the dynamic running back duo of Robert Chavez and Dylan McAdon. Chavez rushed for 186 yards, four TDs and a pair of two-point conversions while McAdon had 103 yards and a TD.
