Basketball sign-ups under way

First clinic opens next week at Ukiah recreation center

A series of youth basketball clinics are being held beginning later this week at the Alex Rorabaugh Recreation Center in Ukiah.

Co- ed youth basketball clinics for students in the third through ninth grades take place Nov. 2325. The cost is $60 per child.

Players in grades three through five meet each day from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and will be coached by Katherine Escobedo, the women’s basketball head coach at Mendocino College.

Players in grades six through nine meet each day from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. and will be coached by Michael Escobedo, assistant men’s basketball coach at Mendocino College.

Saturday-only clinic

A Saturday- only clinic spanning four Saturdays is also scheduled at the Alex Rorabaugh Rec

reation Center in Ukiah for players in the third through 12th grades.

The clinics, which meet on Nov. 21, Dec. 5, Dec. 12 and Dec. 19, are divided into four sections. The cost is $75 per player.

Section one is for boys and girls in the third through fifth grades and is led by Mendocino College women’s basketball head coach Katherine Escobedo. It meets from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. each of the four Saturdays.

Section two, also led by Escobedo, is for girls in the sixth through eighth grades and meets 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. each of the four Saturdays.

Section three, led by Mendocino College men’s basketball assistant coach Michael Escobedo, is for boys in the sixth through eighth grades and meets from 4:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. each of the four Saturdays.

Section four, also led by Michael Escobedo, is for boys and girls in the ninth through 12th grades and meets from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. each of the four Saturdays.
