Scott De Leon is an asset to Lake County

-

Scott De Leon is an employee for the County of Lake that has worked there for a very long time. I met Scott many years ago when a real estate lady from Sonoma County asked me to do a parcel split on a piece of property that she had bought just north of the fire department on Hill Road. She told me that she had her own engineer, and that she wanted me to do this and this. I met with her on the property and then I met with the engineer. She let him know that she hired me and would give him my phone number and that he could work with me when he was ready to give me a call. So I moved my bulldozer to the property and went to work. That very afternoon I got a call from Scott De Leon that he was coming by the job site the next day to meet me and to discuss any problems about the property.

When Scott came to the job, he was very young, but very polite and very knowledgeable and not a “hotdog.” So he told me what he wanted to see when it was completed and when I got close to the end to call him and he would come and inspect the job; which he did and the lady was happy. Scott OKed it all and she paid me. So then in later years I found out that he was married to Melody Thorburn. I knew her father Max Thorburn who was a builder who lived in Clearlake Oaks. So when you go through Clearlake Oaks toward Highway 53 everything you see on the left hand side of the road he built. The strip mall, gas station, the hotel, the bar, and the restaurant. He worked very hard and was very knowledgeable guy and Scott and Melody made a great team then. They are still a great team now. I’m sure a short time back everyone saw his picture in the Record Bee for being a winner as Coach of the Year for Boys sports. He has done an excellent job with the kids in the community. I’m sure many parents and students and school district officials are more than proud of him. He has been an excellent employee for the County of Lake and an asset for the County too and believe me, with his knowledge he is non-replaceable. Our County and the Board of Supervisors should be more than lucky and happy to have him as a County asset and employee.
