Women’s Civic Club wants to give away $10,000

- — Submitted

The Lake County Women’s Civic Club is ready for a new year now that they have been brought up to speed on the last 20,000 years by historian and archeologist, Dr. John Parker. He and his wife, Cheyenne, were with the LCWCC for their first meeting of the year at Riviera Hills Restaurant and presented a fascinating story of the development of Anderson Marsh State Park and the many archeological sites around the lake. Turns out that some of the oldest remains in the United States have been found right here in Lake County. You can learn even more when he speaks again at Ely State Stop on Feb. 12, at 1 p.m.

LCWCC is starting the year off with seven new members eager and ready to help Lake County shine!

Efforts begin with planning for our 27th Annual Mad Hatters Ball scheduled to take place at Boutique Winery on Saturday, April 23, 2022. Everybody gets on board as we reach out to local businesses who believe in giving back by providing products, gift certificates, services or cash donations that allow us to create beautiful, exciting baskets for our raffle and/ or our live auction.

Behind the scenes, a theme has taken shape.

This year’s will be international kindness. LCWCC is thrilled to be celebrating… everybody! Foods are being tasted and caterers considered to provide something out of the ordinary, decorations will have you feeling ”other worldly,” while a fashion parade will highlight costumes from around the globe.

Save the date…April 23… You don’t want to miss this!

It’s also time for LCWCC to contribute $10,000 to a local non-profit here in Lake County. LCWCC maintains an investment which provides dividends that they watch and wait ever so eagerly to cross the $10,000 mark so that they can pass it along to a chosen cause. If you are a local non-profit that believes your group would make the best use of this funding then we need to hear from you. We need you to share the following: Your story (100-500 words), Mission Statement, current funding sources,

Committee/Board Members, potential use for the $10,000, contact information. You may share with us by mailing your presentation to LCWCC, P.O. Box 52, Lakeport, CA 95453. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to call Helen Finch at 707-972-1807.
