Positions available on city councils, school boards

Residents who want to be involved in public service have plenty of time and options to consider at this year’s general election. The cities of Clearlake and Lakeport as well as school boards, special districts, water and fire districts have positions that expire at year’s end and are up for election on Nov. 8, 2022. Interested individual­s can file their declaratio­n of candidacy and nomination papers during the period between July 18 and August 12.

Residents who are mulling over running for a countywide office will need to file a declaratio­n of candidacy form and nomination papers starting February 14 and no later than March 11 in order to be listed on the June primary ballot. They include county supervisor­s for districts 2 and 3, assessor-recorder, clerk-auditor, district attorney, sheriff-coroner and treasurer-tax collector.

City council positions

Ending at the close of 2022 are the four-year terms of office of Clearlake City Councilmem­bers Dirk Slooten and Russell Cremer and Lakeport City Councilmem­bers Stacey Mattina and Mireya G. Turner. Remaining in office through 2024 are Clearlake City Councilmem­bers Russell Perdock, David Claffey and Joyce Overton, and Lakeport City Councilmem­bers Michael Froio, Michael S. Green and Kenneth Parlet II.

School district board members

Among the county’s school district board members, up for election are the four-year positions of the Lake County Office of Education’s Denise Lee Loustalot, David Browning and Anna Rose Ravenwoode; Kelseyvill­e Unified School District’s (KVUSD) Allison Panella and Richard “Rick” Winer; Konocti Unified School District ‘s (KUSD) Pamela-Bening-Hale, William “Bill” Diener and Joan S. Mingori; Lakeport Unified School District’s (LUSD) Carly Alvord and Jennifer Hanson; Lucerne Elementary School’s Bruce Higgins and Dawn Renee McAuley; Middletown Unified School District’s (MUSD) Larry Allen, Allison Berlogar and Annette A. Lee; and Upper Lake Unified School District’s (ULUSD) Diane Tompkins Plante, Ana Santana and one vacant seat.

Continuing to serve as board members through 2024 are Lake County Office of Education’s Melissa Nevin Kinsel, and Mark A. Cooper; KVUSD’s Natalie Higley and Mary Beth Mosko; KUSD’s Zabdy Neria and Mary Silva; LUSD’s Daniel Buffalo, Philip T. Kirby and Jennifer Richardson (must stand for election for a two-year unexpired term); Lucerne Elementary’s Stacia Fetzer; MUSD’s Zoi Bracisco and Misha Grothe; and ULUSD’s Franklin Gudmundson and Claudine M. Pedroncell­i.

Special districts

Four-year terms of office as directors expire in December for Anderson Springs Community Services District’s Carol Lynn Obsiek, Donna Davis Taylor and Cynthia Hoag Weber, Butler Keys Community Services District’s Susan C. Burton and Mary M. Medeiros; Hidden Valley Lake Community Services District’s Claude Brown and Gary Graves; and Redbud Health Care District’s Sandra M. Richards and William Diener.

Serving through 2024 are Anderson Springs CSD’s Roger Desmond Duke (must stand for election for a twoyear unexpired term), and Carol A. McDowell; Butler Keys CSD’s Margaret A. Burr, Frank Gillespie and James O. Warford; Hidden Valley Lake CSD’s James Freeman, James “Jim” Lieberman and Sean Millerick; Redbud Health Care District’s Susan C. Burton, James E. Scholz and Andrew “Lamont” Kucer.

Water districts

Up for election in November are the four-year director positions of Buckingham Park Water District’s Narendra Ken Agarwal, Mark Boyle and Lisa Vartabedia­n; Callayomi County Water District’s Mary “Patricia” Giacomini and Scott Hopkins; Clearlake Oaks County Water District’s Stanley A. Archacki and Samuel Q. Boucher; Cobb Area County Water District’s Steve Barnes, Joshua Dixon and Joel Pyska; Konocti County Water District’s Audurey Barber, Raymond C. Carman and Christine Marie Flora; and Upper Lake County Water District’s Jackie Meri and Richard A. Simondi. For the Villa Blue Estates Water District, the four-year terms of office of David “Bud” Andregg, Jr., Christian Montgomery and Steve Streeter expire in December, as well as the twoyear terms of office of Ann Knudsen and Gary Pierce.

Continuing through 2024 are the terms of office of Buckingham Park WD’s Tom Brandon and Shannon Maurer; Callayomi County WD’s Rosemary Cordova and one vacant position (must stand for election for a two-year unexpired term); Clearlake Oaks County WD’s James Burton, Michael L. Herman and Mary M. Medeiros; Cobb Area County WD’s James “Jim” Agur and Kees Winkelman; Konocti County WD’s Kirsten Priebe and Jeffrey Stanley; and Upper Lake County WD’s Dawn R. Binns, Jan Brelsford (must stand for election for a twoyear unexpired term) and Valerie Duncan. Scotts Valley Water Conservati­on District’s Rhonda Armstrong is serving through 2025 and Thomas Nickel through December 2023. A vacant position expires in 2023.

Fire districts

Also ending in December are the four-year terms of office of Kelseyvill­e Fire Protection District’s Paul E. Lauenroth, Michele Terese Rohner and Mario Villalobos; Lake County Fire Protection District’s Kendall R. Fults; Denise Loustalot, Jacqueline Snyder and Diane M. Watson; Lake Pillsbury Fire Protection District’s Leilani Diaz, Stacy Delventhal and David. J. Smith; Northshore Fire Protection District’s James O. Burton (at-large), Gerald Shepherd (Lucerne zone), and John T. Barnette (Nice zone); and South Lake County Fire Protection District’s Devin Hoberg and Stephanie Pahwa.

Serving through 2024 are Kelseyvill­e FPD’s Steven J. Brookes and Beau Jean Maddox; Lake County FPD’s Mario Ballard (who must stand for election for a twoyear unexpired term) Michael W. Dean and Richard “Bud” Moore; Lake Pillsbury FPD’s Gordon R. Hasler and Lee Ann McKay; Northshore FPD’s Lynn M. Ringette (Clearlake Oaks zone) and Shannon K. Stilwell (Upper Lake zone); and South Lake County FPD’s Robert Bostock, James F. Comisky II and Madelyn Martinelli.
