Walker wins two events for K'ville

Knights host Middletown, other teams in CMC track action

KELSEYVILL­E >> Elizabeth Walker of the Kelseyvill­e High School girls track team won two events and finished second in another during Coastal Mountain Conference action Wednesday afternoon at Kelseyvill­e High School where the Knights hosted teams from Middletown, Fort Bragg, Roseland University Prep and Archbishop Hanna.

Girls

Walker's firsts came in the high jump (4 feet, 2 inches) and 300-meter hurdles (59.5 seconds) while her second was in the 100 (14.6). Her teammate, Emily Jimenez, added a first in the 400 (1 minute, 15.8 seconds).

Also for Kelseyvill­e, Cherish Krohn placed second in the high jump (3-10).

Middletown athletes recorded several firsts, seconds and thirds during the day's action. Event winners for the Mustangs were Georgia Guerrero in the 200 (29.8), Nicole Pyzer in the 1,600 (6:20), Isabella Barriga in the 3,200 (15:28), Mariah Ketchum in the 100 hurdles (21.9), Sofia Rivera in the long jump (12-5) and the 4×100 relay team of Barriga, Ketchum, Guerrero and Skylar Williams (60.0).

Second-place finishers were Pyzer in the 800 (2:53), Williams in the 100 hurdles (23.2), Ketchum in the 300 hurdles (1:02.5) and Amanda Hart in the shotput (31-0).

Recording thirds for the Mustangs were Krystal Ocken in the 100 hurdles (23.3), 300 hurdles (1:02.5), shotput (29-9 ½) and discus (73-1), Rivera in the 200 (31.7), and Viridiana Torres in the 1,600 (7:00).

Varsity boys

Brody Breeden had a productive day for Middletown, winning the shotput (40-7 ½), finishing second in both the discus (101-7) and high jump (5-2), and taking third in the 200 (27.0).

Other Middletown event winners were Javed Chavin in the 110 hurdles (21.7) and 300 hurdles (55.3); Evan Macklin in the 200 (25.9); Nadav Dicovski in the triple jump (39-1); Roberto Chaires in the discus (111-7); and the Middletown 4×100 (51.47) and 4×400 (4:36) teams of Macklin, Dicovski, Parker Boden and Emmanuel

Montes.

Other second-place finishers for Middletown were Johnathan Reynoso in the 3,200 (12:39) and high jump (5-2), Dicovski in the long jump (17-6 ½), and Chaires in the shotput (38-5).

Austin Schroeder of Middletown was third in the 3,200 (14:57).

Frosh-soph

Kelseyvill­e's Alex Fordham was a triple-event winner in the junior varsity boys division with firsts in the 3,200 (13 minutes, 32 seconds), 110 hurdles (19.8) and high jump (4-10). Teammate Elliott Mayo came away with firsts in the 1,600 (5:32) and shotput (35-7 ½) as well as a second in the discus (77-7).

Also for the Knights, Joshua Watson placed second behind Mayo in the shotput (29-6 ½).

For Middletown, Richard Ramos won the 800 (2:52) while Aiden Cadawallad­er finished second in the 1,600 (7:16) and third in the Cadawallad­er (29.6) and 300 hurdles (1:13.3). Bryan Sanchez added second-place finishes in the 110 hurdles (21.4) and 300 hurdles (1:04.4).
