Eva Johnson passed away peacefully at Kaiser Hospital in Santa Rosa, Ca. She was surrounded by her family and left us at the age of 92. Eva lived a long and service filled life.

Eva was born on August 27, 1929, in Elk Mound, WI, and lived there until 1939. At that time, her mother and siblings loaded up the truck and headed to California to join her father who had gone earlier for work.

They settled in Richmond. Eva graduated from Richmond High School in 1950. After high school, she started a career at Hills Brothers Coffee in San Francisco where she advanced to Supervisor in the Key Punch Department.

Her brother, Allen, arranged a blind date with Benny Johnson for the Pressman’s Ball. They were married in December of 1960, at which time she became a wife and mother of three, Robert, Arleen and Norman. In 1962, David was born. They lived in San Anselmo until 1980. Eva and Benny retired to a home on Clear Lake that was built by her father. They enjoyed spending time with Eva’s sister Dorothy, Benny’s brother, Tommy, and Benny’s sister, Mary.

Eva joined Galilee Lutheran Church and would spend the next 20 years serving as Choir Director, Worship and Music Minister, and Treasurer at different times. Eva was also an active member of Vikings of the Lake #166 (Sons of Norway).

As Benny’s Alzheimer’s disease progressed, as well as Mary’s, Eva took over the role of caregiver. She cared for them until they passed. Instead of relaxing, she opened an Adult Day Care/Respite Program in Clearlake. She became famous for her tireless work and yearly smorgasbord fundraisers. For

her service, she was awarded the Star of the Lake in 2009 and received the Ruby Award from the Soroptimist International Club of Lakeview.

Eva is preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Johnson; her parents, Stella and Louis Dahl; her sister, Dorothy Dahl; and brothers, Layton, Orrin, Allen and Vernon Dahl. She is survived by her children, Robert Johnson, Arleen Reilly, Norman Johnson, and David Johnson; and her grandchildren, JB Mathers, Aaron Johnson, Hilary Johnson, Michael Johnson, Kyle Johnson and Devon Johnson.

She also is survived by many nieces, nephews and many longtime friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Eva Johnson on August 27. 2022, at Galilee Lutheran Church, 8860 Soda Bay Road, Kelseyville, California. The Service begins at 11 a.m. All friends and family are invited.
