Little Hoover Commission has a new website
We are pleased to announce the launch of our redesigned website at https:// lhc.ca.gov. The new site is designed to better inform policymakers, stakeholders and members of the public about the Commission's work and its recommendations for policy reforms.
The site now allows far greater flexibility in informing people about the Commission's work. Specific hearings, reports or Commission-supported legislation can now be spotlighted on the homepage, something that was not possible with the previous site.
“We want policymakers and others to know about the work our Commission produces, and this new site will help ensure that people are aware of the latest and most important components of our efforts to make government work better,” said Executive Director Ethan Rarick.
The new site also incorporates other critically important functions that will help users find the information they seek. Users can now search our report library via topics and keywords, for example, and they can use keywords to search for past and upcoming public hearings. The design, which includes a freshened color scheme and aesthetic, also makes it far easier for users to find items such as written witness testimony or video recordings of Commission hearings.
The redesigned site debuts with new content about the Commission's latest work, including:
New report — Need Greater Than Ever to Fight Labor Trafficking
New report — Intimate Partner Violence: A Path Forward
New Study Announcement: Homeowners Insurance
Commissioner Profile: Gil Garcetti
Retail Theft: The Latest from Our Hearings
Results: Reforms We Fought For
The Little Hoover Commission is the country's only independent, permanent citizens commission working to improve state government. Consisting of 13 members appointed by the Governor and legislative leadership, the Commission is charged with recommending reforms to state policy that would make government more efficient or economical, or that would allow government to provide improved service to citizens.
Since it was founded in 1962, the Commission has issued more than 275 reports on a wide range of topics, making more than 1,200 recommendations for reform. More than 150 bills have been signed into law to enact the Commission's recommendations and improve state government.
