Arcata man suspected of multiple burglaries in Mendocino and Lake counties pleads not guilty

- — Lori Armstrong

An Arcata man facing charges of felony burglary and vandalism recently appeared at the Lake County Superior Court for an appearance of counsel, plea entry and bail review hearing.

The defendant, Tyrone Brennen, 38, was present and not in custody, entering a not guilty plea to all counts and denying the special allegations.

A preliminary hearing has been set for April.

The defendant is facing two counts of burglary and two counts of vandalism.

Earlier last month a Lake County deputy acquired a felony arrest warrant in connection to a burglary in Lake County.

The charges stem from an incident last month when Lake County Sheriff's Office deputies located a vehicle connected to a burglary in Lake County. The defendant's vehicle was spotted during the early morning hours at the parking lot of Bruno's Shop Smart grocery store.

Brennen was arrested and transported to the

Hill Road Correctional Facility.

A search warrant of the defendant's vehicle was later granted and conducted. Upon search of the vehicle deputies found possible burglary tools and clothing similar to what the defendant was wearing during the commission of some of the burglaries.

According to Sheriff's officials, the defendant stole approximately $60,000 from November through January from multiple businesses, causing a multitude of damages to the buildings during the process.

According to the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office, the defendant is a suspect to two burglaries in Mendocino County — one at a Chevron station in Gualala and the other at Hopland Farms Gas and Mart.

The defendant has reportedly been responsible for numerous burglaries within the state over the past several years.

The defendant has since bailed out.
