Middletown golfers continue their winning ways

- By John Berry

The Middletown High School golf team showed itself to be the class of the Coastal Mountain Conference this past Thursday. Playing at the Sugarloaf Golf Club in Santa Rosa's Valley of the Moon, MHS came up with another dominant win in South Division tournament play. Middletown posted a team score of +37 over par 289 aggregate. That score in relation to par shows that Middletown has one of the most complete high school golf teams in the Redwood Empire.

MHS was led by Dom Williams who carded a +1 over par 64. His round included five birdies. A senior, Williams is a three time all-conference golfer. Bodhi Moore shot a 73 while Cooper Johnson and Jackson Conley turned in scores of 76. For the second week in a row, St.

Helena finished second place overall with a team score of 339. Micha Meraz Ha shot a 78 while Ethan Peterson finished with an 82. Technology High School finished in third place after shooting a team score of 350 with senior Sebastian Maurice posting a 74. Fourth place went to Sonoma Academy High School with a team score of 411. Kelseyville High School had an incomplete team score with Ethan Gambill shooting 100, Caleb Lopez carding a 104, and Andrew Nave posting a 125.

The shot of the day was struck by Dom Williams of Middletown. Williams bombed his tee shot on the 340 yard par four 17th hole, hitting his tee shot onto the green while stopping it some 15 feet away from the flagstick. Dom barely missed his eagle putt and tapped in for the birdie three.

After two weeks of conference tournament play, Middletown is atop the standings at 8-0, St. Helena comes in at 6-2 while Technology finds itself in third place at 4-4. Sonoma Academy is 2-6. Kelseyville is 0-8. Several regulars on the KHS golf team missed this week's tournament because they were at the FFA convention.

The next tournament on the CMC schedule is at Rooster Run Golf Course in Petaluma on Thursday, March 28. A difficult test of golf, Rooster Run was the site of last year's Boys North Coast Section Championship
