EASTER IN LAKE COUNTY

Plenty of festive events to mark the occasion

LAKE COUNTY >> Arriving only 12 days into Spring, Easter Sunday is officially almost here. Festive events are scheduled around the lake all weekend, and sunny skies are in the forecast making the way for optimum egg hunting conditions.

The Lakeport Rotary Club is hosting its 98th annual Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday March 31 at That Ranch beginning at 1:30 p.m. According to the Lakeport Rotary website, lakeportro­tary.org, this tradition began in 1926 and has never missed an Easter. In prior years this event has been held at the Lakeport Fairground­s and is now celebratin­g their first year at the new location. That Ranch is located at 4405 Thomas Drive in Lakeport and is known for their yearly Corn Maze and other Fall themed events. This year the Rotary Club Easter Bunnies will be hiding 2,880 eggs with 300 being “special pay” eggs. The event is free to the public and open to all children aged 1 month to 12 years old.

Also held on Easter Sunday in Lakeport is the Fun Zone Arcade's Easter party for all ages, located at the Konocti Vista Casino at 2755 Mission Rancheria Road. Beginning at 11 a.m.

and ending at 2 p.m. the Fun Zone will be awarding three winners of their Easter egg coloring contest with arcade play credits from $25 to 45 and also may have filled their claw machines with special eggs! The Fun Zone has also announced their extended hours during Spring Break and will be open their regular operating hours on Thursday through Sunday as well as from noon to 8 p.m. from Monday through Wednesday.

Boutique Winery located at 8255 Red Hills Road in Kelseyvill­e is hosting its second annual Easter Egg Hunt and Egglympics on Saturday March 30 from 12 to 4 p.m. There will be an egg hunt for all ages as well as competitiv­e games for adults to compete for big prizes. Culinary delights will be offered by Rosey Cooks and her pop up team, and there will be staged area for fun holiday photo shoots. Bed and Barrel at Stonehouse Cellars is also holding an Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday at their winery located at 500 Old Long Valley Road in Clearlake Oaks. The event will run from noon to 3 p.m. and will have two groups, children and adults, searching for 1000 eggs including special golden eggs. Food will be provided by David the Taco Guy and there will also be a face painter and wine raffles to partake in. Twin Pines Casino in Middletown is celebratin­g their Easter Eggstravag­anza on Saturday March 30 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free community event is Alice in Wonderland themed this year and will provide gift bags and prizes for attending children.

Running Creek Casino in Upper Lake is also celebratin­g Easter with an egg hunt on Friday March 29 at 4 p.m. On Easter Sunday their restaurant Wild Creek will be serving Easter Brunch on Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The City of Clearlake is hosting an Easter Brunch on Saturday March 30 from 9-11 a.m. at the Clearlake Youth Center. There will be food, an egg hunt, raffle prizes, and even a visit from the Easter Bunny himself. This is a ticketed event and more informatio­n is available on the City of Clearlake Facebook page.

The Lucerne Community Church located at 5870 Highway 20 is hosting its annual Easter egg hunt and services on Easter Sunday beginning at 10 a.m.

Rancho Hanitzy in Lower Lake is holding an Easter egg hunt and Eggstravag­anza on their grounds and will include a farm animal petting zoo, piñatas, arts and crafts, a bounce house, and food and drink. This is also a ticketed event and more informatio­n can be found on their Facebook page.

Upper Lake Middle School is celebratin­g Easter with their tenth annual egg hunt on Saturday March 30 at 10 a.m.

The Easter Bunny itself will also be making some special appearance­s around the lake including one at Sophie's Day Spa in Kelseyvill­e on Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. where the public is invited to come take photos free of charge. The bunny will also at the Bottlerock Candle Studio on Saturday March 30 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Of course, the Easter Bunny doesn't forget about his furry friends! Send Rover on Over in Lakeport is holding their annual Easter egg hunt for dogs! Each dog gets a 10 minute time slot to hunt for eggs on their own, sniffing out three treats from one hundred eggs. This event will take place on Saturday March 30 at 10 a.m. and is a ticketed event.
