Charles Manson
Age: 81 Denied parole 12 times. Ordered others to commit murders in hopes of starting a race war in the United States. Hoped Black Panthers would be blamed.
Charles ‘Tex’ Watson
Age: 70 Denied parole 14 times. Will try again Oct. 27. Participated in all seven murders. Became a minister in prison and fathered four children during conjugal visits.
Susan Atkins
Died in prison of cancer in 2009 at age of 61. Rejected for parole 18 times. Participated in the murders of Sharon Tate, Jay Sebring, Steven Parent, Abigail Folger and Wojciech Frykowski.
Patricia Krenwinkel
Age: 60 Denied parole 13 times. Next parole date expected in late December. Did not participate in the murders at the Tate home but murdered Leno and Rosemary LaBianca.
Leslie Van Houten
Age: 66 Denied parole 19 times. Convicted of the murders of Rosemary and Leno LaBianca. In April, the California Board of Parole Hearings recommended parole, but Gov. Jerry Brown blocked her release July 22.
Linda Kasabian
Age: 66 Charged with seven murders but granted immunity when she agreed to testify against the others. Drove the others to the two sites and stood lookout.
