Hart scores 37 to help Villanova stay undefeated

Jay Wright doesn’t follow who is in the running for national player of the year. However, the Villanova coach thinks he has the best player in the country in senior guard Josh Hart.

Hart scored a career-high 37 points and No. 1 Villanova (10-0) rallied from an 11-point deficit to beat No. 23 Notre Dame 74-66 on Saturday at the Prudential Center. Matt Farrell and Steve Vasturia each had 19 points for the Fighting Irish (9-1).

No. 13 Xavier 77, Utah 69 — At Cincinnati, J.P. Macura emerged from his shooting slump by scoring 18 points, and RaShid Gaston helped Xavier (8-2) get the edge up front against Utah (6-2).

No. 16 Butler 75, No. 22 Cincinnati 65 — At Indianapol­is, Kelan Martin scored 20 points and was the catalyst in two key second-half runs for Butler (9-1) against Cincinnati (7-2).

Denver 77, Air Force 65 — At Colorado Springs, Colo., Daniel Amigo scored a career-high 33 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double as Denver (4-5) defeated Air Force (6-5).

Colorado State 81, Northern Colorado 64 — At Fort Collins, Colo., Devocio Butler hit three 3-pointers and finished with 19 points — both career highs — as Colorado State (82) beat Northern Colorado (3-6).

San Jose State 109, Life Pacific 70 — At San Jose, Calif., Brandon Clarke had 18 points and nine rebounds and San Jose State (54) tied a program record with 30 assists against Life Pacific (5-6).

Wyoming 85, Montana 83 — At Laramie, Wyo., Jason McManamen scored 20 points and Louis Adams drilled a 3-pointer with 2 seconds remaining to give Wyoming (7-2) a win over Montana (3-7).

Utah State 80, Utah Valley 79, OT — At Orem, Utah, Shane Rector sank a free throw with one second to play in overtime to give Utah State (5-4) a win over Utah Valley (5-4).

Arizona State 74, San Diego State 63 — At San Diego, Tra Holder scored 17 points and Shannon Evans II had 16 to lead Arizona State (6-4) past San Diego State (4-4).

Fresno State 73, Cal Poly 59 — At Fresno, Calif., Jahmel Taylor drilled all five of his 3-point attempts for 17 points as Fresno State (6-3) pulled away in the second half to beat Cal Poly (5-5).

New Mexico State 84, New Mexico 71 — At Las Cruces, N.M., Ian Baker matched a career-best with 26 points and New Mexico State (8-2) beat New Mexico (6-4) for its sixth straight win.
