Sources: Rangers reach one-year deal with ex-Padres pitcher Ross

-

The Texas Rangers and right-hander Tyson Ross agreed to a one-year, $6 million contract, according to multiple sources.

Ross, 29, became a free agent last month when San Diego did not offer him a contract. Several clubs, including the Chicago Cubs, expressed interest in him.

Ross, who is 32-53 with a 3.64 ERA in seven major league seasons, missed most of last year because of shoulder problems. He underwent surgery in October.

An All-Star with the Padres in 2014, Ross went a combined 23-26 with a 3.03 ERA, with 407 strikeouts in 391 2/3 innings, in 2014 and 2015.

CUBS: Chicago appointed former catcher David Ross, 39, as special assistant to baseball operations. A 15year major league veteran with seven teams, Ross’ duties will include working in player development and scouting.

DIAMONDBACKS: Arizona agreed to a one-year, $1.5 million deal with free-agent catcher Chris Iannetta, 33, a veteran of three teams in 11 major league seasons.
