Blazers, Grizzlies trade barbs on Twitter after Portland win

-

A Twitter skirmish broke out between Memphis forward Chandler Parsons and Portland guard C.J. McCollum after the Trail Blazers’ 112109 win over the Grizzlies on Friday.

It started with a post during the game from Portland’s main account, which teased Parsons for an airball on a 3-pointer.

“To be fair, the NBA 3-point line is really, really far away from the basket,” @trailblazers posted.

Afterward, Parsons shot back at the Blazers via his Twitter account: “good luck in the lottery show this year.”

McCollum took issue, posting: “We hit the lottery by not signing you.”

That set off a veritable tweetstorm among Twitter onlookers who watched the drama unfold.

Blazers president Chris McGowan offered a statement Saturday to ESPN. In it, he said the original team post was meant to be lighthearted but “was probably a little too close to the line.”

MAVERICKS — Guard Pierre Jackson, a Desert Pines product, was released from his second 10day contract and replaced by rookie guard Yogi Ferrell, who signed a 10day deal.

Ferrell, 23, who spent four seasons at Indiana before getting bypassed in last year’s NBA Draft, was waived by Brooklyn in December after averaging 5.4 points and 1.7 assists in 10 games.

Ferrell most recently was with the Long Island Nets of the NBA Development League, averaging 18.7 points and 5.8 assists in 18 games.

Jackson, 25, averaged 3.9 points and 2.1 assists in nine games.

LAKERS — Forward Julius Randle was diagnosed with pneumonia and will be restricted from any activity until at least Monday, when he will be re-examined.

Randle, 22, is averaging 13 points and 8.4 rebounds in 44 games.
