■ No. 5 Wisconsin 24, Illinois 10 —

A Champaign, Ill., 328-pound offensive tackle Michael Deiter ran for a 4-yard touchdown on a trick play for the Badgers (8-0, 5-0), who lost star running back Jonathan Taylor to a first-half leg injury. Jeff George Jr. and Cam Thomas combined to go 9 of 31 passing for 152 yards for the Illini (2-6, 0-5), and they absorbed five sacks.

Northweste­rn 39, No. 16 Michigan State 31, 3OT —

At Evanston, Ill., Clayton Thorson threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Flynn Nagel in the third overtime, and safety Nate Hall intercepte­d Brian Lewerke on the ensuing drive as the Wildcats (5-3, 3-2) won their third straight. Thorson threw for 356 yards and two scores. Lewerke threw for 455 yards and four touchdowns for the Spartans (6-2, 4-1), who had won four straight.

Michigan 35, Rutgers 14—

At Ann Arbor, Mich., redshirt freshman Brandon Peters replaced struggling John O’Korn at quarterbac­k and guided the Wolverines (62, 3-2) to touchdowns on his first three drives, finishing 10 of 14 passing for 124 yards and a TD. Karan Higdon ran for 158 yards and two touchdowns for Michigan. Janarion Grant had a 65-yard scoring run for the Scarlet Knights (3-5, 2-3).

■ Maryland 42, Indiana

39— At College Park, Md., Javon Leake returned a kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown, and Jake Funk ran for two fourth-quarter scores for the Terrapins (4-4, 2-3), who rallied to snap a three-game skid. Simmie Cobbs had 10 catches for 138 yards and two TDs, and Whop Philyor had 13 catches for 127 yards for the Hoosiers (3-5, 0-5), who held a 483-345 edge in yards of offense and converted 11 of 23 third downs.

Nebraska 25, Purdue 24 —

At West Lafayette, Ind., Tanner Lee threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Stanley Morgan Jr. with 14 seconds left, his second TD pass in the final 11 1/2 minutes that erased a 12-point deficit by the Cornhusker­s (4-4, 3-2). Lee threw for 431 yards, and Morgan had six catches for 112 yards. The Boilermake­rs (3-5, 1-4) ran for 199 yards but lost their third straight.

Iowa 17, Minnesota 10—

At Iowa City, Iowa, linebacker Josey Jewell had six solo stops among his 11 tackles for the Hawkeyes (5-3, 2-3) in a game that saw each team convert just 15 first downs and commit three turnovers. Iowa’s touchdowns came on its first drive of each half, and the Hawkeyes had 147 of their 315 yards of offense on those two marches. The Golden Gophers (4-4, 1-4) haven’t won in Iowa City since 1999.
