Phyllis Louise Bishop, of New York and Nevada, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018, in Lithia Springs, Georgia. She was 82 years old. Phyllis was born in 1936, New York City, to Walter and Veronica Cleghorn. She graduated from Julia Richman High School in Manhattan in 1953 and married Lloyd Edwin Bishop in 1957. They had two sons and moved from Queens, New York to Suffolk County, Long Island in 1964 to raise their family. Phyllis was a bank teller, assistant manager and financial counselor at various Long Island banks. In 1997, Phyllis and Lloyd retired to Las Vegas, following two sets of long-time friends who had already retired to the area. Both Phyllis and Lloyd held several volunteer posts while in retirement, and Phyllis worked part-time for the Nevada Department of Child and Family Services. Phyllis moved to Georgia in 2017 to be near family. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her sons, Lloyd Carlyle Bishop of New York City, New York, and David Michael Bishop of Douglasvil­le, Georgia. Phyllis was a joyful person with a wonderful, off-beat sense of humor and an extraordin­ary love for her family and friends. Her sons are bringing Phyllis’ remains to Las Vegas, where she loved living in retirement. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 13 at Palm Memorial ParkNorthw­est, 6701 N. Jones Blvd., Las Vegas, which will also serve as Phyllis’ final resting place. A New York gathering will be announced to family and friends. Her husband, Lloyd, a Korean War veteran, is interred at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Boulder City. “Loving Father, we offer a prayer for our deceased.”
