Dennis Patrick Daniels, 71, entered into eternal life May 10, 2018, with his wife, of 30 years, Aleta, holding his hand. He was born April 17, 1947, in Defiance, Ohio. The family moved to Las Vegas when Dennis was two and he attended various local schools and was a graduate of the class of 1966 at Western High School, where he excelled in football and baseball. He was soon drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served as a Combat Medic in Vietnam. He was awarded many military medals for his courageous service and was honorably discharged in 1968. He attended Boise State University on a baseball scholarshi­p, then moved to Dallas, Texas, where he was a police officer. He later earned a Master plumber certificat­ion, he obtained a Texas State Contractor license and became a plumbing contractor and later a Plumbing and Mechanical Inspector in Farmers Branch, Texas. He returned to Las Vegas in 1988, married his high school sweetheart and worked for Clark County for 27 years as a Plumbing/Mechanical Code Instructor. Following retirement, he worked for two years as a Course Marshal and Starter at Black Mountain Golf Course. Dennis was active in Boy Scouts, served as a volunteer literacy instructor to adults and worked as a baseball umpire throughout Nevada. He served for many years as both an Instructor and Coordinato­r of the Joint Apprentice­ship Training Program. He served on numerous national associatio­n committees writing code changes to the Uniform Plumbing Code and Uniform Mechanical Code. He received awards for both Industry Man of the Year and Government Man of the Year. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent Frank Daniels and Grace Elizabeth Reed Daniels; and his only sibling, Judith Darlene Rose. He is survived by his beloved wife, Aleta Schneehage­n Daniels; loving son, Shawn (Shandi Stock); and grandson, Tyler, all of Las Vegas. Memorial service will be at 12:30 p .m. Friday, June 29, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City. Casual attire requested. Reception will follow at the family home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 Swenson St., Las Vegas, NV 89119.
