Robert Richard Rugg, a native of Bloomfield, N.J., and resident of Las Vegas for 34 years, passed away at age 90, September 4, 2018. Bob was born February 9, 1928 in Passaic, N.J., to the late Charles Baxter Rugg and Helen Angel Rugg. After attending high school Robert served as a military policeman in the U. S. Army. Following an honorable discharge, he worked as a lab technician for Union Carbide Chemical Corporatio­n until retiring and relocating to Las Vegas in 1984. Bob enjoyed the tourist industry while working as a shuttle bus driver for the Gold Coast Hotel & Casino until his second retirement in 1999. Robert was an avid sports enthusiast, and believed that daily exercise along with proper nutrition was the key to longevity. Music was dear to his heart; he could sing the lyrics from songs throughout the decades. He was happiest playing games and relaxing while spending time with his family and friends. Bob will be remembered most for his ability to uplift people’s spirits with his positive attitude and friendly smile. His encouragem­ent, wisdom, and love will be missed by all who knew him. Robert was the devoted husband of the late Mary Patricia Rugg, married for 53 years. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Betty Milder and Charles Rugg Jr. Bob is survived by his daughters, Kathleen Borusiewic­z (Joseph Sr.) and Cheryl Winnemore (Neil), of Las Vegas; grandchild­ren, Joseph Borusiewic­z, Jr. (Tanya), Jennifer Quimson (Michael) and Kevin Winnemore; and great-granddaugh­ter, Helaina Borusiewic­z. Friends and family are welcome to attend the visitation from 3-5 p. m. Monday, September 10, followed by service from 5-6 p.m., both at Palm Cheyenne Mortuary, 7400 West Cheyenne Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89129. Contributi­ons can be made in Robert’s name to Compassion Care Hospice, 7842 W. Sahara Ave. Las Vegas, NV 89117.
