■ No. 12 Virginia Tech 62, William & Mary 17 —

At Blacksburg, Va., Steven Peoples ran for 55 yards and two touchdowns in the first half for the Hokies (2-0), who held a 401-100 edge in yards of offense in the opening 30 minutes. DeVonte Dedmon caught a 59-yard TD pass for the Tribe (1-1).

■ No. 13 Penn State 51, Pittsburgh 6 —

At Pittsburgh, Trace McSorley threw for two touchdowns and ran for another score in the rain for the Nittany Lions (2-0). Qadree Ollison ran for 119 yards and a TD for the Panthers (1-1).

■ No. 22 Miami 77, Savannah State 0 —

At Miami Gardens, Fla., Malik Rosier was 8 of 12 passing for 131 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a score for the Hurricanes (1-1), who won their programrec­ord 12th straight home opener. The Tigers (0-2) were victimized for Miami’s largest victory margin.

■ South Florida 49, Georgia Tech 38 —

At Tampa, Fla., Blake Barnett threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 91 yards and two TDs for the Bulls (2-0), who overcame a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit. Terrence Horne returned first-quarter kickoffs 98 and 97 yards for scores and had a fourth-quarter TD catch for USF. TaQuon Marshal ran for 113 yards, including a 45-yard TD, for the Yellow Jackets (1-1).

■ Wake Forest 51, Towson 20 —

At Winston-Salem, N.C., Greg Dortch returned punts 60 and 70 yards for touchdowns in the second quarter and had an 8-yard TD catch while totaling 310 all-purpose yards for the Demon Deacons (2-0). Tom Flacco threw for 345 yards and three TDs for the Tigers (1-1), who never led.

■ North Carolina State 41, Georgia State 7 —

At Raleigh, N.C., Ryan Finley was 31 of 38 passing for 370 yards and two touchdowns for the Wolfpack (2-0), who amassed 541 yards of offense. Destin Coates’ 8-yard TD run gave the Panthers (1-1) a 7-0 lead.

■ Boston College 62, Holy Cross 14 —

At Boston, AJ Dillon ran for 149 yards and three touchdowns on six carries in less than a quarter for the Eagles (2-0) in the teams’ first meeting in 32 years. The Crusaders (0-2) returned two blocked punts for TDs in the third quarter.

■ East Carolina 41, North Carolina 19 —

At Greenville, N.C., freshman Holton Ahlers threw for 290 yards and ran for two touchdowns for the Pirates (1-1), who led 21-19 at halftime. Freeman Jones kicked four field goals for the Tar Heels (0-2), who mustered 35 yards of third-quarter offense.

■ Syracuse 62, Wagner 10 —

At Syracuse, N.Y., Eric Dungey threw for 218 yards and five touchdowns to five receivers for the Orange (2-0), tying a program record for TD passes in a game. The Seahawks (1-1) allowed a Syracuse-record 45 first-half points.

■ Louisville 31, Indiana State 7—

At Louisville, Ky., backup quarterbac­k Malik Cunningham accounted for two touchdowns for the Cardinals (1-1) in a game featuring three first-quarter lightning delays totaling 2 hours, 33 minutes. Ja’Quan Keys ran for 102 yards for the Sycamores (1-1).

■ Florida State 36, Samford 26—

At Tallahasse­e, Fla., Deondre Francois threw for 320 yards and three touchdowns and ran for a score for the Seminoles (1-1), who trailed 23-21 after three quarters. Kelvin McKnight had 14 catches for 215 yards and two TDs for the Bulldogs (1-1).
