AMERICAN LEAGUE

■ Athletics 8, Rangers 6 — At Oakland, Calif., Khris Davis hit his major league-leading 41st home run, Matt Olson homered to drive in the go-ahead run and Oakland won for the fifth time in six games.

■ Astros 5, Red Sox 3 — At Boston, Alex Bregman hit his 30th home run, Charlie Morton (14-3) returned from the disabled list with five solid innings and Houston won its seventh straight. ■ Indians 9, Blue Jays 8 — At Toronto, Roberto Perez homered and drove in four, Michael Brantley hit a two-run shot and Cleveland outslugged Toronto to inch closer to a playoff berth.

■ Yankees 4, Mariners 2 — At Seattle, Andrew McCutchen hit his second home run in two days, Dellin Betances pitched out of a basesloade­d jam in the ninth inning and New York held on to beat Seattle.

■ Rays 10, Orioles 5 — At St. Petersburg, Fla., Ryan Yarbrough (14-5) struggled but got his 14th win, most among major league rookies, and Tampa Bay won its 10th straight home game. ■ Angels 12, White Sox 3 —

At Chicago, Mike Trout homered twice and drove in five runs as Los Angeles won for the fourth time in five games.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

■ Nationals 10, Cubs 3, Game

1— At Washington, Max Scherzer (17-6) pitched a complete game and Washington took advantage of sloppy Chicago to win the opener of a doublehead­er. ■ Reds 7, Padres 2, 6 innings, rain — At Cincinnati, Joey Votto ended his two-month homer drought with Cincinnati’s 11th grand slam — one shy of the NL record — and Reds won a game called because of rain in the top of the seventh inning.

■ Braves 5, Diamondbac­ks 4, 10 innings — At Phoenix, Atlanta shortstop Dansby Swanson made a diving stop on the outfield grass and cut down Nick Ahmed at home plate for the final out to preserve the Braves’ win over Arizona.

■ Mets 10, Phillies 5 — At New York, Noah Syndergaar­d (11-3) left the game after he was hit by Cesar Hernandez’s line drive in the seventh inning but managed to slow Philadelph­ia’s playoff run despite allowing a career-worst 12 hits and five walks.

■ Rockies 4, Dodgers 2 —

At Denver, Kyle Freeland (14-7) pitched six strong innings, Wade Davis worked out of a ninth-inning jam and Colorado beat Los Angeles to remain atop the NL West.

■ Brewers 4, Giants 3 — At Milwaukee, Gio Gonzalez (811) received a standing ovation following an impressive first start with Milwaukee and the Brewers beat slumping San Francisco. Gonzalez allowed an unearned run over 5⅔ innings.

■ Pirates 5, Marlins 1 — At Pittsburgh, Josh Bell homered for the second game in a row, Ivan Nova (8-9) got his first victory in a month and Pittsburgh won its fifth straight.

INTERLEAGU­E

■ Tigers 4, Cardinals 3 — At Detroit, Victor Reyes scored on a game-ending wild pitch with one out in the ninth inning as Detroit handed St. Louis its fifth loss in seven games.
