Ted Binion’s life and death
■ Nov. 28, 1943: Lonnie Theodore “Ted” Binion is born in Dallas.
■ 1946: Ted Binion moves to Las Vegas with his father, Lester “Benny” Binion.
■ 1964: Ted Binion is named manager of Binion’s Horseshoe after his father loses his license.
■ 1986: Ted Binion is arrested on drug trafficking charges.
■ March 1995: Ted Binion meets Sandy Murphy at Cheetah’s strip club.
■ 1996: Awash in drug problems and connections to mobsters, Ted Binion is provisionally banned from his management role at the Horseshoe.
■ February 1998: Ted Binion meets Rick Tabish at Piero’s restaurant.
■ March 1998: The Nevada Gaming Commission votes to permanently revoke Ted Binion’s gaming license.
■ Sept. 17, 1998: Ted Binion dies in his home on Palomino Lane.
■ June 24, 1999: Tabish and Murphy are arrested at a Smith’s grocery store in connection with Ted Binion’s death.
■ May 19, 2000: Tabish and Murphy are convicted of murder in Ted Binion’s death.
■ Sept. 15, 2000: Tabish is sentenced to 25 years to life in prison, while Murphy is sentenced to 22 years to life in prison.
■ July 14, 2003: The Nevada Supreme Court orders a new trial for Tabish and Murphy.
■ Nov. 23, 2004: Tabish and Murphy are acquitted of murder but convicted of charges in the theft of more than $6 million of Ted Binion’s silver from a vault in the desert.
■ April 28, 2005: Murphy is released from prison.
■ May 18, 2010: Tabish is released on parole.
