Matthews keeps up torrid scoring pace as Maple Leafs top Capitals

WASHINGTON — Auston Matthews scored a goal in his sixth consecutiv­e game to start the season, Frederick Andersen made 25 saves and the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Washington Capitals 4-2 on Saturday.

— At Boston, David Pastrnak scored three times, giving him 101 goals in his career, and Patrice Bergeron had three assists as Boston kept Detroit winless.

■ Lightning 8, Blue Jackets 2 — At Tampa, Fla., Victor Hedman, Cedric Paquette and Yanni Gourde had first-period goals and Tampa Bay beat Columbus.

■ Canadiens 4, Penguins 3, SO — At Montreal, Paul Byron and Jonathan Drouin scored in the shootout as Montreal beat Pittsburgh.

■ Predators 5, Islanders 2— At Nashville, Tenn., Filip Forsberg scored twice, Viktor Arvidsson had a goal and an assist and Nashville won for the fourth time in its first five games.

■ Hurricanes 5, Wild 4, OT— At St. Paul, Minn., Sebastian Aho scored his second goal of the game in overtime and Carolina matched the best five-game start in franchise history.

■ Oilers 2, Rangers 1 —

At New York, Connor McDavid scored the go-ahead goal on the power play and added an assist, lifting Edmonton to its first win of the season.

■ Blackhawks 4, Blues

3, OT — At Chicago, Alex DeBrincat scored his second goal of the game and sixth this season with nine seconds left in overtime to lift Chicago over St. Louis.

■ Stars 5, Ducks 3 —

At Dallas, John Klingberg scored the go-ahead goal late in the second period, when Dallas scored on four of its team-record 30 shots in the frame, and the Stars beat Anaheim.

■ Flames 3, Avalanche 2, OT— At Denver, Elias Lindholm scored the tying goal

with 1:54 left in regulation and Johnny Gaudreau won it in the first minute overtime as Calgary beat Colorado.

■ Canucks 3, Panthers

2— At Sunrise, Fla., Bo Horvat scored the tiebreakin­g goal in the third period, leading Vancouver past Florida.

■ Senators 5, Kings 1 —

At Ottawa, Ontario, Chris Wideman got his first two goals in nearly a year and Craig Anderson made 36 saves to lead Ottawa.

■ Sabres 3, Coyotes 0

— At Glendale, Ariz., Linus Ullmark stopped 36 shots for his first career shutout and rookie Rasmus Dahlin scored his first career goal to lead Buffalo past Arizona.
