Time to get fired up about voting

-

There is less than a week before early voting for the 2018 midterm elections. These elections are extremely important and should be a referendum on decency, fairness, honor, integrity and competence. In other words, everyone should get out and vote to get rid of Republican enablers of President Donald Trump.

So why should we vote out Republicans like Sen. Dean Heller? Let’s count the reasons:

1) Trump’s collusion with Russia, obstruction of justice and failure to implement protection for future elections

2) Trump’s zero-tolerance immigration policy that both temporarily and permanently separated hundreds of children from their parents

3) Trump’s ill-conceived tariffs that necessitated expensive bailouts of farmers

4) The Senate’s confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court despite his extreme partisanship and lack of judicial temperament.

In 2008, the mantra of Barack Obama’s supporters was “fired up, ready to go.” Obama recently reminded us that voting is necessary to fight indifference and cynicism. He once again challenged us to meet our civic responsibility of voting because “our democracy depends on it.”

Are you fired up? Are you ready to go? If not, what rock have you been living under?
