Long-time Las Vegas resident Elizabeth J. "B.J."Stevenson passed away December 13, 2018 at Nathan Adelson Hospice. She was 94.

B.J. was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Abram Henry (Heinie) and Vella Stevenson. Her family moved to Las Vegas in 1931. She graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1941, then attended college at the University of Utah. After earning her degree, she served in the Army as a dietician from 1947-1952, attaining the rank of Captain.

After her Army service, she worked for the Willis-Cole Travel Bureau, which allowed her extensive travel opportunit­ies. Over the course of her lifetime B.J. toured Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Europe on numerous trips, initially with her aunt the late Lillian Witcher, then in more recent years with her sister, the late Natalie Rittenhous­e.

B.J. also worked at Eastman Dillon, the first NYSE brokerage in Las Vegas, which opened in 1956. She retired from there in 1976. B.J. was an active community volunteer, in the Las Vegas Service League, Junior League and Assistance League.

B.J. Stevenson is survived by her four nieces; Norma (Stevenson) Hale and Susan (Stevenson) Glad, both of Las Vegas; Allison (Rittenhous­e) Hayward, of Cambria California, and Leslie (Stevenson) Krogel of Seatac, Washington. B.J. will be buried in the Salt Lake City cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family encourages donations to the Nevada State Museum in Las Vegas. No Services Scheduled.
