Patrick L. O’Donnell died peacefully December 13, 2018, surrounded by his family in Wilmington, NC. Patrick was born July 24, 1935, in Portland, OR, the oldest child of Bert and Margaret O’Donnell. At the age of 3, his family relocated in 1938 to Las Vegas, a small town of about 8,500. He attended the Bellarmine College Preparator­y School and later graduated from Las Vegas High School, the University of Idaho and the Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Patrick worked for Conway, Moe Accountant­s in Las Vegas, the Arthur Anderson accounting firm and the Allstate Insurance Company in Chicago, where he served as the vice president of the corporate tax office. Pat loved growing up in Las Vegas and working with father and grandfathe­r at the Rancho Grande Creamery. He frequently returned to Las Vegas for business and to see family and life-time friends. He was amazed to see the growth of Las Vegas over the years. He loved his family, enjoyed skiing, reading, travelling and was a wine connoisseu­r. Patrick is survived by his loving wife, of 36 years, Sandra; sons, Ger (Margo,) Lance (Nancy) and Patrick; daughter, Annie (David); and five grandchild­ren, Amanda, William, Ben, Blake and Luke. He is also survived by his sisters, Miriam Pemberton and Kathy Hanley; brother, Tim O’Donnell (Kathy) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a devout member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Wilmington. His funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Wed., Dec. 19, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 1011 Eastwood Rd., Wilmington, NC 28403. In lieu of flowers contributi­ons may be made to St. Mark’s Catholic Church, the Lower Cape Fear Hospice or to the Sisters of the Holy Names, 2911 W. Fort George Wright Dr., Spokane, WA 99244. The family wishes to express appreciati­on to the staffs of the Commons at Brightmore and of Bradley Creek Rehabilita­tion Center for the excellent care provided.
