Jack William Herdt, "Coors Jack", 88, of Eagle Valley, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, January 12, 2019. Jack was born August 12, 1930, in Columbus, OH, to William J. Herdt and Laura Mutchler, who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Francis Galloway. Jack is survived by his wife, Velda; daughter, Laura Phillips; sons, Mark, Matt and Jeff; and his previous spouse, Doris Herdt. He had 13 grandchild­ren and 17 greatgrand­children. Jack was very proud of all his children and grandchild­ren. He was a lifetime member of the Las Vegas Masonic Lodge #32 and a member of the Mesquite Elks Lodge #2811. Jack retired in August of 1995 from Coors and was a member of Teamsters Local 14. He went on to make his home in Eagle Valley. Jack loved the outdoors and taking rides in the mountains. He was also an avid hunter, fisher and golfer and enjoyed doing these activities surrounded by family and friends. Throughout Jack’s many ventures in life, at one point he was owner of the Shamrock Bar in Caliente. Jack and his wife, Velda founded the Rocky Mountain Oyster Festival that was a big hit in Eagle Valley and would draw crowds from all over to attend. This venture in his life went on for 13 years. Jack was an avid sports fan. But he most enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals, Washington Redskins, Boston Celtics, Ohio State Buckeyes and Dale Earnhardt. He loved and enjoyed life. Jack was always laughing and loved being surrounded by people. A celebratio­n of life will be at 1 p.m. Sat., Jan. 26, at the Overland Hotel and Saloon, 662 Main St., Pioche, NV 89043. Attire will be casual.
