No. 8 Kentucky dominates boards, beats No. 9 Kansas

LEXINGTON, Ky. — P.J. Washington scored 14 of his 20 points in the second half to help No. 8 Kentucky beat No. 9 Kansas 71-63 on Saturday.

Washington also had 13 rebounds, helping the Wildcats (16-3) to a 49-36 edge on the glass. Dedric Lawson scored 20 points for the Jayhawks (16-4), who shot 37 percent. ■ No. 1 Tennessee 83, West

Virginia 66 — At Knoxville, Tenn., Lamonte Turner scored 23 points for the Volunteers (18-1), who erased their first double-digit deficit of the season by holding the Mountainee­rs (9-11) scoreless for a 9½-minute stretch.

— At Durham, N.C., R.J. Barrett scored 24 points for the Blue Devils (17-2, 6-1 Atlantic Coast), who missed 19 of 21 3-point tries but beat the Yellow Jackets (11-9, 3-4) for the 12th straight time.

■ No. 12 Marquette 87, Xavier 82— At Cincinnati, Markus Howard scored 19 of his 31 points in the final 14 minutes for the Golden Eagles (18-3, 7-1 Big East). Tyrique Jones scored 21 points for the Musketeers (11-10, 3-5).

At New York, Ayo Dosunmu scored 20 points for the Illini (6-14, 2-7 Big Ten), who broke from a 59-all tie with a 15-4 run to upend the Terrapins (16-5, 7-3).

■ No. 14 Texas Tech 67, Arkansas 64— At Lubbock, Texas, Davide Moretti hit two free throws with five seconds left and totaled 21 points for the Red Raiders (16-4). The Razorbacks (11-8) didn’t allow a field goal over the final 7:41.

■ No. 22 Mississipp­i State 92, No. 16 Auburn 84 — At Starkville, Miss., Quinndary Weatherspo­on made all 11 of his free throws and totaled 27 points for the Bulldogs (15-4, 3-3 Southeaste­rn). The Tigers (13-6, 2-4) shot 53 percent but committed 19 turnovers.

■ No. 24 Iowa State 87, No. 20 Mississipp­i 73 — At Oxford, Miss., Talen Horton-Tucker scored 23 points for the Cyclones (15-5), who shot 69.1 percent. Breein Tyree scored 22 points for the Rebels (14-5).

■ No. 21 North Carolina State 69, Clemson 67 — At Raleigh, N.C., Braxton Beverly hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer for the Wolf Pack (16-4, 4-3 ACC) in their comeback from six down with 26.5 seconds left. Marquise Reed, who scored 19, missed four three throws in the final 15 seconds for the Tigers (11-8, 1-5).

■ No. 25 Louisiana State 86, Missouri 80, OT — At Columbia, Mo., Skylar Mays scored 11 of his 24 points in the last three minutes of regulation for LSU (16-3, 6-0 SEC), which overcame a 14-point deficit in the final 2:08 of the second half. Jordan Geist scored 25 points for Missouri (10-8, 1-5).

At Albuquerqu­e, N.M., Abel Porter hit a 3-pointer with 1.8 seconds left for the Aggies (15-5, 5-2) after the Lobos (9-11, 3-5) were called for a controvers­ial

backcourt violation with 31 seconds left.

■ Boise State 77, Wyoming 52 —

At Boise, Idaho, R.J. Williams scored 18 points on 7-for-8 shooting for the Broncos (9-11, 4-3). Justin James, leading the Cowboys (5-15, 1-6) in scoring at 20.5 points per game, missed his first 11 shots and scored seven points.

65— At Fort Collins, Colo., J.D. Paige scored 17 points for the Rams (8-12, 3-4), who overcame 18-for-32 freethrow shooting. Deshon Taylor scored 24 points for the Bulldogs (14-5, 5-2).
