No. 25 Boise State 49, Air Force 30:
At Colorado Springs, Colo., Jack Sears was 17 of 20 passing for 280 yards and three TDs and ran for a score for the Broncos (2-0, 2-0), who downed the Falcons (1-2, 0-2) for their 11th straight league win.
Sears, a Southern California transfer, filled in for regular starting QB Hank Bachmeier, who didn’t make the trip for unspecified reasons.
C.T. Thomas caught two of Sears’ TD passes, including a 75-yarder on the first play from scrimmage. Avery Williams scored on an 88-yard kickoff return for Boise State.
Brandon Lewis ran for 112 yards and a TD for Air Force, which had won nine straight home games and fell to 4-18 against ranked teams under coach Troy Calhoun.
■ San Jose State 38, New Mexico 21:
At San Jose, Calif., Nick Starkel threw for 467 yards and five TDs for the Spartans (2-0, 2-0), who downed the Lobos (0-1, 0-1) to open a season with consecutive wins for the first time in 33 years.
Bailey Gaither had 10 catches for 208 yards and a TD, and Tre Walker added nine catches for 107 yards and two TDs for San Jose State, which opened 2-0 in league play for the first time since 2011.
Teveka Tuioti threw for 294 yards and two TDs and ran for 69 yards and a TD on 14 carries for New Mexico, which was to have hosted the game but didn’t because of COVID-19-related public health orders.
■ San Diego State 38, Utah State
7: At Logan, Utah, Greg Bell ran for 157 yards and a TD on 22 carries and caught a 29-yard TD pass for the Aztecs (2-0, 2-0), who held the Aggies (0-2, 0-2) to 215 yards of offense.
Chance Bell ran for 98 yards and a TD on 10 carries, and Jordan Byrd had a 73yard TD run for San Diego State, which led 10-7 at halftime.
