Lady Rebels upend UNR

Nia Johnson scored 28 points to lead UNLV past UNR 62-57 in a Mountain West women’s basketball game Saturday at Cox Pavilion. Delaynie Byrne had 10 points, nine rebounds and six blocks for the Lady Rebels (8-6, 6-3), who won their third straight. Da’Ja Hamilton had 19 points for the Wolf Pack (7-7, 3-6), who shot 29.7 percent and trailed 26-24 at halftime and 47-42 entering the fourth quarter.

75: At Malibu, Calif., Drew Timme had 19 points for the Bulldogs (17-0, 8-0 West Coast), who buried the Waves (7-8, 3-3) for their 21st straight win.

At Waco, Texas, Adam Flagler had 19 points to lead five double-figure scorers for the Bears (16-0). The Tigers (10-8) also had five double-figure scorers.

■ No. 20 Virginia Tech 65, No. 8 Virginia 51: At Blacksburg, Va., Keve Aluma had 29 points for the Hokies (13-3, 7-2 Atlantic Coast), who trailed by 10 in the second half. The Cavaliers (11-3, 7-1) had won 15 straight league games.

71: At San Diego, Matt Mitchell had 26 points for the Aztecs (13-4, 7-3), who shot 60.7 percent. The Cowboys (10-7, 4-6) were outrebound­ed 35-20.

■ San Jose State 75, Air Force 62: At Phoenix, Ralph Agee had 22 points and 14 rebounds for the Spartans (5-11, 3-9), who shot 51.9 percent and held the Falcons (4-12, 2-10) to 41 percent.

■ Fresno State 65, New Mexico 55: At Fresno, Calif., Junior Ballard had 16 points for the Bulldogs (7-6, 5-6), who held the Lobos (5-11, 1-11) to 35.4-percent shooting.
