Las Vegan Gragson finds more NASCAR heartache

Myatt Snider won the Contender Boats 250 at Homestead-Miami Speedway for his first NASCAR Xfinity Series win in 36 career starts, taking the checkered flag in overtime after leader Noah Gragson slammed into a lapped car with two laps left. It was Gragson’s third straight disappoint­ing Homestead finish. The 22-year-old Las Vegan had the dominant car in both Homestead races last year but didn’t win either.

Boxing: At Miami Gardens, Fla., Canelo Alvarez (55-1-2, 37 knockouts) retained his WBC and WBA super middleweig­ht titles with a technical knockout of Anvi Yildirim (21-3, 12 KOs) after the Turkish challenger failed to answer the fourth-round bell.

Skiing: At Moena, Italy, Lara GutBehrami won her second World Cup downhill in two days, edging downhill world champion Corinne Suter by 0.32 seconds for a 1-2 Swiss finish.
