Paula Vogt Skaggs passed away peacefully on May 11 at the age of 92 in the loving care of her cousin Margueritt­e Duquette Castellano­s and Rene Castellano­s in Las Vegas, NV. She was born in Dunkirk, New York to Ralph and Morea Apthorp Vogt on April 20, 1929, and was predecease­d by her parents, husband James Skaggs, brother Jack Vogt and sister Beverly Vogt McCoy, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is survived by her brother Kenneth Vogt and his wife Veronica. After High School, in 1946 Paula attended Bryant & Stratton Institute which led her to Cease Catering Inc. in Dunkirk. From 1956 to 1978 she managed catered affairs there and was instrument­al in introducin­g the "Meals on Wheels" program to the area. In 1978 Paula and her aunt, Bea Apthorp Duquette visited Nevada, fell in love with Las Vegas, and never looked back! Paula took a position with Design Library as office manager working with interior designers until 1986. There she met the love of her life, James, with whom she shared her happiest years until his passing in 2003. Her last position was with the Las Vegas Constable’s office from 1986 until she retired at age 83! Paula loved family, friends, making beautiful leather hook rugs, casino games, and spoiling her dog Teddy. Always independen­t, generous, and very funny, she will ever be remembered as "Auntie Paula" by Marge and Rene’s children, Chris Castellano­s, Katy Castellano­s Valdez, and their families. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Church, 2000 Maryland Pkwy., Las Vegas, NV 89014 where a Service will be held Sunday, June 6th at 3 p.m.
