ROBERT GIAMMARINO
Robert Eugene "Bob" Giammarino, born in Brooklyn, NY on September 8, 1951, and a beloved, longtime resident and restaurateur in the Las Vegas Valley, passed away unexpectedly on July 2, 2022, at the age of 70. A devout family man and
loyal friend, Bob will be missed by everyone fortunate enough to have met him.
A selfless, caring man, Bob was a great
father, and a father figure to so many customers over more than five decades running his family-owned
businesses. "Bob's Eastside Deli" is a fixture in the community due to the huge heart of the man in charge, may he Rest in Peace.
Bob started both his family and his business in the early 1970's on Long Island, New York's Smithtown. There, he owned and operated a 7-11 store for nearly 20 years. Then, in 1990, he and Doreen decided to move the family out west to Henderson, Nevada. Bob's desire to provide better opportunities for his children drew him to Southern Nevada (not to mention the weather) and he went right to work achieving, and exceeding, the American Dream
over the following three decades.
As an entrepreneur and restaurateur, Bob Giammarino had no equal. He opened Valley View Deli soon after arriving in the Valley in 1990. No establishment in Las Vegas could boast the loyal following Bob developed at Valley View. And when he decided to shift his base of operation in 1997 to the east
side of town, "Bob's Eastside Deli" was born, and the legend continued to grow. Bob relished the friendships he developed with all his regulars and was
on a first-name basis with everyone.
Community service was in Bob's blood, and he was an active supporter of a wide array of community organizations. From the Muscular Dystrophy Association to Del Sol High School, from the Boy Scouts and First Responders to Military Veterans and Active-duty
Personnel, Bob's generosity knew no bounds. His giving nature and high-energy approach earned Bob legendary status in Southeast Las Vegas.
In his personal life, Bob had a lust for life that was unmatched. His love for the Mets was a lifelong obsession, equaled only by his passion for the beach, golfing, and his New York heritage. And, he never missed a Billy Joel show! All his beloved pastimes were shared wholeheartedly with his family and passed on over three generations of Giammarinos.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Angelo and Pauline Giammarino and brother Anthony Giammarino. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Doreen; daughters Tara Laureanti (Steve), Jennifer Dipalma (Andy), and Nicole Rich (Danny); and grandchildren Aidan and Gracie (Tara), Christopher and Vanessa (Jennifer), Zoe, Emily and Allie (Nicole).
Bob Giammarino will be deeply and forever missed by his family - and all those whose lives he touched on his beautiful journey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to St. Jude's Children's Cancer Research Hospital: stjude.org/donate.
