STEVEN JAMES FORSYTHE

-

Steve Forsythe was born in Bremerton, Washington on January 15, 1955, grew up in Oakland, California, and studied journalism at San Jose State University. He began his career in Public Relations and Advertising with his dream job - working for the Oakland Raiders. Positions with the Oakland Stompers and Sears Point Raceway in Sonoma would follow. Steve joined Caesars Palace in 1980 and Las Vegas would become his forever home. Since 1985, he has been CEO of Ffegroup/ffeadventas, a full service advertising agency, handling a multitude of clients from gaming organizations, to government relations, to political candidates. Additionally, since 2012, Steve was Managing Partner of First Tuesday, a team of well respected and experienced political campaign veterans.

But anyone who knew Steve will tell you, the accomplishment he was most proud of was his family. So, when he was diagnosed with an incurable and aggressive cancer just before Christmas 2020, it should have come as no surprise that he dug in his heels and fought like hell. Instead of allowing his cancer to define his final months and days, he made a bucket list and set goals - his milestones, he called them: keep attending the grandchildren's games, cheer on his beloved San Francisco Giants and Raiders (who finally followed Steve to Vegas), another season watching Cal, one more Thanksgiving, more times at the beach with his family, and finally, to meet his newest granddaughter. Check, check, check.

For nearly 2 years, Steve got on and off airplanes, and drove back and forth between UCLA and Las Vegas every couple of weeks for cancer treatments and doctor visits, a schedule that would exhaust anyone. But Steve was laser focused - he wanted to create more memories WITH his family, but more importantly, FOR his family. It was this sheer will and fortitude that enabled him to defy the cancer odds, and gave him more precious time. That was the kind of Dad and Pop Pop he was. Generous to the end. Family was everything to Steve, and Steve was everything to his family.

Sadly, Steve lost the battle on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, with his wife Shauna and daughter Amanda by his side. The week before he passed he was surrounded by family, and while there were many tears, there was much laughter as well, thanks to Steve's good humor. That's just how he would have wanted it.

His passing has left an enormous hole in the hearts of all who loved him, but there is no denying that we all are better for having had him in our lives. So when you think of Steve, think of his smile, his laughter and good nature, watch some baseball, listen to jazz, hug and cherish your kids and grands, and if you are so inclined, light up a cigar. He would like that.

Steve is survived by his wife, Shauna, his children Joseph (Christine) Forsythe, Amanda (Jason) Rosenberg, Christopher Forsythe, Anthony (Tricia) Forsythe, Brett Forsythe, stepson Chad (Dawn) Wood, and grandchildren Jackson, Grayson, Gavin, Marcus, Beatrix, Cooper, Alexander, Nicholas and Margot. Alex, Crystal and Jameson King and Steve's former wife Connie Elliano and her husband Jason also share in the family legacy, along with numerous extended family members.

Following his wishes, Steve will be celebrated in a private family service in Northern California, and interred near his beloved mother, grandmother and multiple relatives whom have passed before him.

Finally, Steve held three charitable organizations very close to his heart - The Dominican Sisters Vision of Hope (www.visionofhope.org), The Las Vegas Public Education Foundation (www.thepef.org) and The V Foundation (www.v.org). It was his desire that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to any one of these groups.
