KURT CARL MEIERHENRY

-

Kurt Carl Meierhenry, age 50, a beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, passed away July 12, 2022 in Northridge, CA after a valiantly fought year long battle with pancreatic cancer. His fight for life and determination to reach his 50th birthday was inspirational. He will be remembered not only for the grace, strength and dignity with which he handled his terminal diagnosis, but also for the kind, caring and gentle soul that he was. Kurt was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Dwight and Barbara Meierhenry on May 25, 1972. He was raised and schooled in Las Vegas and was a graduate of Valley High School. Upon graduation, Kurt moved to Los Angeles, CA, to be closer to his sister, Lynn, whom he shared an exceptionally close relationship with, and to pursue career goals. Kurt enjoyed working in and excelled in the fields of customer service, public relations, advertising and administration. He felt fortunate he eventually found his niche working for Jerry Lenander, executive director of the California Alarm Association's monthly industry publication, The Mirror, and was dedicated to his position working on behalf of Jerry and CAA for nearly two decades. When Kurt lost his father to Alzheimer's in 2017, he stepped down from his career later that year to move back to Las Vegas to be a care taker and companion for his mother. Kurt was was always willing to do what it took to be there for family and never complained or asked, "Why me?", about hardships or misfortune that came his way.

A thoughtful and introspective person, Kurt also had a passion for learning, especially in the areas of spirituality, world cultures, religion and new age philosophies. He bought and read enough books during his lifetime to have easily filled a book store! Another passion of note was Kurt's love of hiking with his sister. They had many wonderful hiking adventures together over the last decade. Among his favorite hikes were climbing trails leading to the Hollywood sign and the Wisdom Tree in the Griffith Park area of Los Angeles. It is fitting that he will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn in Hollywood Hills just below these peaceful spots he immensely enjoyed hiking to. Kurt will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Kurt Meierhenry is survived by his Mother, Barbara Meierhenry, his sister, Lynn Carey Saylor, brother-in-law Skip Saylor, niece Marcy Saylor, nephew John Saylor, uncle Ron Carey and 1st cousins Kelley Carey Mason and Jennifer Carey Schaner. Kurt was preceded in death by his father, Dwight Meierhenry, and his brother, Scott Meierhenry.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM on 08-08-2022 at Forest Lawn in Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive and a graveside service will follow at 3:30 PM. A Celebration of Life will also be held in Kurt's honor in Las Vegas in the coming weeks.
